About Us
The OU-AAUP bargaining unit represents over 800 faculty members here at Oakland University.
Whether a union member or not, all of these faculty members share in the benefits of collective bargaining and are covered by our union-negotiated Faculty Agreement.
Our union has a long, proud history and remains robust today, 50 plus years after its creation. By an overwhelming margin, over 85%, our faculty understand the value not only of union representation, but of union membership as well. We would like to see that membership rate increase because as it does, so too does our collective power with regards to shared governance, intellectual freedom protections and bargaining leverage. Heading into a bargaining year in 2024, these are incredibly important. Our dues rate stands out as one of the smallest amongst AAUP collective bargaining chapters and hasn’t changed in well over a decade.
